RFID Access Lab
CompletedHands-on view of physical access control with an RC522 RFID reader/writer on a Raspberry Pi Pico 2W. Focused on UID cloning as a weakness in low-security badge systems that rely on an unencrypted UID instead of cryptographic authentication. Full cloning wasn’t possible against as many cards use encrypted sectors that block naive read/write attacks, but the lab was a practical intro to RFID/NFC protocols and why UID-only auth is weak. It also made clear the gap between vulnerable legacy cards and modern encrypted ones, which matters in real physical security assessments.
